This brochure for (future) international doctoral candidates shows the different ways to do a PhD in Germany. It explains the formal requirements, gives practical tips for selecting the right supervisor or doctoral program and presents funding and financing options.

Funding your Research in Germany

The brochure presents 47 funding programmes of selected research (funding) organizations such as the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, the Max Planck Society, the Helmholtz Association and the Leibniz Association as well as some European scholarship programmes. It is aimed at international doctoral candidates, postdocs and experienced scientists interested in a research stay in Germany.
