Viele ehemalige DAAD-Stipendiaten arbeiten heute an palästinensischen Universitäten. Sie sind in führenden Positionen als Universitätspräsidenten, Vizepräsidenten, Dekane, Professoren und Dozenten. Wenn Sie mit Universitäten oder Wissenschaftlern in den Palästinensischen Gebieten Kontakt aufnehmen oder als Student mehr Informationen zum Studium in Deutschland aus erster Hand erhalten möchten, helfen Ihnen die DAAD-Alumni jeder Universität gerne weiter. Die Alumni-Botschafter repräsentieren die Alumni ihrer Universitäten und arbeiten eng mit dem DAAD-Informationszentrum in Ostjerusalem zusammen.

Prof. Khaled Safi

Prof. Khaled Safi was awarded a DAAD scholarship to pursue his Master’s degree in Jordan in 1995. He further graduated with a DAAD funded PhD in Islamic Studies at the Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany in 2003.  Prof. Khaled Safi also received DAAD funding for short research visits in Germany and benefited from the DAAD re-invitation progamme that offers DAAD alumni the chance to conduct research or take up employment in Germany for up to three months. He is now Dean of Arts & Human Sciences teaching in the History Department at Al-Aqsa University.

Prof. Naji Al Dahoudi

Prof. Naji Al Dahoudi

Alumni Representative Al Azhar University Gaza

Prof. Naji Al Dahoudi is a Professor of Physics & Materials Sciences Engineering at the Physics Department at Al Azhar University Gaza. He was awarded DAAD scholarships for pursuing his Masters degree in Jordan in 1998 and a PhD degree at Saarland University in 2003. Prof Dahoudi also received several DAAD grants to carry out research in Germany. His award-winning research on renewable energy is among others funded by a German-Palestinian joint research programme. He is currently developing a new generation of solar cells.

Dr. Ahmad Amro

Dr. Ahmad Amro

Alumni Representrative Al-Quds University

Dr. Ahmad Amro was awarded a DAAD PhD scholarship in 2005 and did his German language course at the interDaF e. V. at the Herder-Institut of the University of Leipzig. He finished his PhD from the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin with highest recognition (summa cum laude) in 2009. Currently he is Associate Professor and Dean at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Al-Quds University.

Dr. Munqez Ishtaya

Dr. Munqez Ishtaya

Alumni Representative An-Najah National University

Dr. Munqez Ishtaya is Assistant Professor in Plant Breeding at An-Najah National University in Nablus.

He received funding for two DAAD short research visits to conduct research on the Circadian clock and stress adaptation in barley at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne, Germany in 2009.  He currently collaborates with the Max Planck Institute in a joint research project in the same field funded through a grant from the research funding organisation DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft).

Dr. Isam Alawneh

Dr. Isam Alawneh

Alumni Representative Arab American University

Dr. Isam Alawneh received his PhD degree in electrical engineering in Bochum, Germany in the field of antenna and wave propagation and worked as a design engineer for surface acoustic filters in Germany for three years. Since 2009, he is working as Assistance Professor at the Telecommunication Engineering paper writings Department at the Arab American University in Jenin. He was granted two DAAD short research visits to conduct research at University Duisburg-Essen and at Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany.

Alumni Representative Birzeit University Head DAAD Alumni Association West Bank

Dr. rer. oec. Samah Abu Assab is Assistant Professor of Marketing and Innovation at Birzeit University at the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Dr. Samah was awarded two DAAD scholarships to pursue a Masters degree in Innovation and Technology Management and a PhD in Marketing and Innovation Management at the Brandenburg University of Technology (TU) Cottbus, Germany. Afterwards, she received an Erasmus+ post doctorate scholarship in Public awareness for Sustainable Manufacturing at the TU Berlin. Dr. Samah is Head of the DAAD alumni association in the West Bank.

Dr. Sami Makharza

Dr. Sami Makharza

Alumni Representative Hebron University

Dr. Sami Makharza is Assistant Professor in Nanochemistry at Hebron University, College of Pharmacy and Medical Sciences. He was awarded a DAAD PhD scholarship in 2010 for pursuing his PhD degree at Technical University, Dresden. Dr. Makharza benefited from the re-invitation program in 2018 that offers the opportunity to follow up his research for three months at IFW Dresden, Germany.

Professor Samir Afifi

Professor Samir Afifi

Alumni Representative Islamic University of Gaza

Professor Samir Afifi obtained his PhD from the Institute of Environmental Chemistry at the University of Kassel, Germany in 1990 and is a member of the DAAD scholarship selection committee in the Gaza Strip since 1994.  He is a Professor at the Environmental and Earth Science Department and the Director of the Excellence Center for Marine Science and Costal Management at the Islamic University of Gaza.

Murad Abusubaih

Murad Abusubaih

Alumni Representative Palestine Polytechnic University Hebron

Murad Abusubaih received his PhD. in Telecommunications Engineering from Technical University of Berlin, Germany, in 2009, his M.sc. in Communications Engineering from Jordan University of Science and Technology, in 2001, and his B.sc. degree (with distinction) in computer systems engineering from Palestine Polytechnic University, Palestine, in 1999. During 2004-2009, he worked as research assistant at the Telecommunication Networks Group at the Technical University of Berlin. He has been working on Policies and Protocols for Wireless Networks and has been involved in different projects.
Since his return to Palestine, Dr. Abusubaih has been working at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU). He was chair of the Electrical Engineering department for three years. Since 2015 he has been appointed as the dean of graduate studies and scientific research.

Dr. Hussein Shanak

Dr. Hussein Shanak

Alumni Representative Palestine Technical University Kadoorie

Dr. Hussein Shanak, DAAD Alumni, holds a PhD in Physics from Saarland University, Saarbrücken. He is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Physics at the Palestine Technical University Kadoorie working in the field of thin film nanotechnology, especially transition metal oxides, and polyamide films for industrial applications. His research also focuses on transport in carbon-based materials including graphite systems and organic semiconductors.
